Universal’s Epic Universe:

When I was initially brought onto the Epic Universe Project assignment during the Conceptual Design Phase, my primary responsibilities included developing Show/Set design drawings and packages, reviewing design vendor drawing packages, as well as creating 3D models for the heavily themed Retail, Dining and Entertainment Hub of Epic Universe. I had to coordinate extensively with our Park Operational Partner teams, as well as our in-house Facility and Area Development teams in order to develop design solutions that not only matched our land aesthetic, but would successfully function for our partner teams and conform to parkwide standards.

Moving into the Schematic and Design Development phases, my role shifted into more of a design management position for a section of our land. I reviewed vendor drawing packages (architectural, show design, MEP, lighting/AV), produced coordination & integration drawings, and worked heavily with these vendors and our in-house creative direction team to ensure the creative vision was upheld as drawings progressed from the facility architecture side & show design side.

Upon my return to the project after the Covid-19 related pause, my scope widened. I became Production Designer focusing on much of the land’s heavily themed retail & restaurant scope. I provide design & creative direction to our show/ set fabricators to ensure the design development and integration of show elements within the facility meets the creative intent. My style for providing art & creative direction is visual. I speak in the language of 3D modeling, graphics and sketching to solve complex issues which arise during this integration & fabrication phase. I enjoy collaborating with fabrication shops, reviewing mock-ups and samples, and testing ideas to help us further ideate on creative solutions as we work through the complex issues of creating magical guest experiences.

My work is under NDA, but here’s a really cool rendering of Epic Universe!
